Long tall Sally was a football queen,
Tried to make it big on the silver screen.
Showed up back in town 'bout a year ago
Bought the older diner down the county road
It's always jammed packed with the 10-4 crew
Sally could have done better but she might of done worse.

Little Billy was in love with Milly West,
She ran off and left him in a terrible mess.
Not long ago Milly made the news,
For bumping off her partner for insurance dough
It wasn't the first time Milly made this hit.
Billy could have done better
But he might have done worse

Sometimes you're lucky and you draw an ace,
Then there's times it's the deuce of spades
Days go by nothing coming your way

Well old Doc Watson had a gambling bug,
Lost the deed to his mansion on the ocean bluff
Soon after a mudslide took that shack to the sea
Would have took the Doc while he was asleep
Doc quit gambling thinking he's out of luck.
